Are you buying, selling or refinancing an existing manufactured home, here on the Oregon Coast?
Well, if that home was built before 2010 then your home is going to require tie-downs in order become up to current code.
But what is a tie-down?
And what is its' purpose?
Tie-downs are systems of heavy-duty straps and anchors that are installed under your existing home. Their purpose and design is to stabilize manufactured homes during high winds.
As of 2010 all manufactured homes are subject the Oregon Manufactured Dwelling Installation code that states: “When required, manufactured dwellings shall be anchored or braced to resist seismic forces...” (Code 3-2.5.4)
Please note; all FHA and VA insured loans, and most conventional lending requires that a licensed engineer certify that the manufactured home’s existing foundation meets the current code requirements set forth by HUD.
Once we have been contacted a member of our team will do a visual assessment of the home. Which will present us with a general overview of site conditions.
In the event that the home does not meet the required criteria, we will then complete the required upgrades to bring your home within compliance of all current HUD codes.
Finally, once the required upgrades have been completed, a licensed Engineer will inspect the home and provide you with an official certification report.
